Changing your name in Zoom is a useful feature that allows for quick name updates during or outside of meetings. Whether you’re using the desktop client, mobile app, or web portal, Zoom has got you covered with a few different ways to change your full name (account profile name) and your display name. Here's a quick step-by-step guide for all devices.

How to Change Your Name on Zoom via the Web Portal

The Zoom web portal allows you to change both your account name and display name, which will be visible to others during meetings.

1. Sign in to Zoom:
   • Go to Zoom and sign in to your Zoom account (Zoom web portal).
2. Access Profile Settings:
   • Click on the Profile option in the sidebar.
3. Edit Your Name:
   • By your account's profile name, click the Edit button.
   • Enter your First Name and Last Name and you are good to go.
   • For Display Name, follow the same process and enter any name here (this is what will be shown to other people within Zoom meetings and can be anything from full name to a nickname).
4. Save Changes:
   • Once updated, click Save to apply the changes. Your new name will now appear in all Zoom meetings going forward.

This is the most permanent way to change your name on Zoom, and it will apply across all devices where you use Zoom.

How to Change Your Name in the Zoom Desktop Client

If you prefer using the Zoom desktop app, you can also change your name directly within the application.

On Windows, macOS, or Linux:

1. Open the Zoom Desktop Client:
   • Launch the Zoom app on your computer and sign in.
2. Go to Profile Settings:
   • Click on your Profile Picture in the top right corner, then select Settings.
3. Change Your Name:
   • In the left sidebar, click Profile.
   • You will see a section with your name. Click on Edit My Profile, which redirects you to the Zoom web portal, where you can edit your name using the steps mentioned above.

How to Change Your Name on the Zoom Mobile App

Changing your name on Zoom's mobile app is just as easy and useful for those who use their phones for meetings.

On Android or iOS:

1. Open the Zoom App:
   • Launch the Zoom app on your Android or iPhone and sign in.
2. Access Profile Settings:
   • In the bottom-right corner, tap on More (with the three dots icon).
   • Tap on your name at the top to access your profile settings.
3. Change Your Name:
   • Tap Display Name and in the pop up, enter a new First Name and Last Name to make a change to your account profile name. For your Display Name, it's the same process as on the Desktop Client - enter any name (nickname, first name, full name, etc) and this is what will be shown on Zoom.
4. Save Your Changes:
   • Once you've made the necessary changes, tap Save. Your new name will be reflected during those mobile Zoom calls you have.

How to Change Your Name When Joining a Zoom Meeting

You can also change your display name when you join a meeting, with a couple of different scenarios depending on whether you're signed in or not.

1. Joining Without Signing In:
   • When you join a Zoom meeting (either through the desktop client, mobile app, or web browser), Zoom will prompt you to enter your Meeting ID and Display Name.
   • Enter your name here, and it will appear as your name during the meeting.
2. Joining While Signed In:
   • If you’re already signed in, Zoom will automatically use your saved display name. However, you can still change it once you're in the meeting, as outlined in the next section.

How to Change Your Name During a Zoom Meeting

Changing your name while a Zoom meeting is in progress can be done quickly, especially if you want to display a different name to other participants.

However, your ability to change name within the meeting is riding on the Zoom meeting host. There is a setting called "Allow participants to rename themselves" which needs to be enabled for you to give yourself a new name here. Assuming the setting is enabled, here's what you should do on each device:

On Windows, macOS, or Linux:

1. Click on the Participants Button:
   • Once in the meeting, click on the Participants button in the bottom toolbar.
2. Find Your Name:
   • A list of participants will appear on the side. Hover over your name.
3. Rename Yourself:
   • Click on the ellipses next to your name and then click Rename. A pop-up will appear where you can enter a new display name.
   • Once you enter the new name, click Change, and your name will update for the remainder of the meeting.

On Android or iOS:

1. Open Participants List:
   • While in the meeting on the Zoom mobile app, tap on Participants in the Zoom meeting controls.
2. Tap Your Name:
   • Find your name in the list and tap it.
3. Rename:
   • Tap Rename - again, a pop-up will be there for you to enter your new display name, so enter your name here and tap Done. Your name will now appear as updated to other participants.
